Brawn GP, Williams and Toyota have been cleared to race use their current diffusers in the Australian Grand Prix. Their designs had been challenged by Ferrari, Renault and Red Bull. BMW Sauber had also wanted to be involved in the protests, but the team’s paperwork was rejected. The argument against the diffusers was that they did not comply with the spirit of the new rules. The protesting teams are expected to appeal the decision.
It is expected that McLaren may also have a similar diffuser on its cars, which may have appeared at the very last minute.
“We are pleased with the decision of the race stewards but we prefer not to comment further on the situation,” said Toyota Motorsport chairman Tadashi Yamashina said. “This weekend promises to be a tremendously exciting Australian Grand Prix so we are now looking forward to starting the competition on track with the first practice sessions on Friday.”
It would have been nice if the decision could have been made a little more quickly as the FIA has been trying to speed up such decisions…

This is going to get messy. If as reported the appeal cannot be heard until Malaysia we could have the results of the first two races overturned. The FIA is a complete shambles of an organisation. This should have been sorted weeks ago.
