The car is a beauty!!!! Gotta say Im warming to Tricky all the time……glad to see him coming back to racing, and hope he does well, although Fernando has been my favourite since 02, so Im hoping he doesnt do THAT well just yet! It probably wont be a miracle though if he does win the title this year with Mercedes !!! #:)

What Mercedes really need to do is make one of their comedy Mika Hakkinen adverts, featuring both him and the new boy! Surely it’s doable now Michael is on the books?

Make it happen Joe, get Norbert H on the blower! :D

Love that car. I’ve heard rumors that it’s going to be the Safety Car this year. Have you heard anything on that?

I hope it is. I love watching the safety car practice laps and I think it would be a beast!

    A red Mercedes??

First of many Mercedes ads featuring Schumacher I guess, the marketing people in Stuttgart will be keeping him busy over the next three years!

    Poor Nico…

This is an old ad made before Schumacher came to Mercedes. They have only changed the bits where you can see the drivers face.

“Is it still a car” said the advert.

Yes it is, Michael. And it’s still a red car…

    Dear Joe,

Thanks for the blog, it is always good to hear the insider’s gossip and.

However in order to start a little bit of controversy please find attached a weblink (if that page is still on) in which they show the Schumi-Mercedes ad without the driver!!

I really wonder if all the PR is needed, of course the famous face grabs a lot more attention, but the car is the star in this ad.

    Anyway here it goes:

Funny that this promo has been shown before. And it came out originally without Schumacher being involved at all: “http://5x5m.com/lp/10024/sls.html”
Now they’ve gone and edited his image in – so no way he was the original driver. Anyway, how much do you think they’d have to pay to get Michael to do a stunt like that…?

Actually the ad has been on you tube before the Red Baron signed for the three pointed star. Sorry to spoil the party.

    Winker.
    :D

What an advert – I love this blog because things like this clip really show what a word-of-mouth community this is. I would hate to appear too much like what you told Sidepodcast was a “mouth-breather”, but I’m going to have to tweet the link now…

Very clever to make it red. Montezemolo must be hating it.

Gorgeous car too. Joe, lend me the cash to get one pleaase ;-)

What makes you think they’d even risk the car doing a stunt like that. There’s so much post processing in that ad that there’s a very real probability that the entire car was added to the film after the fact. By far the cheaper option these days!

No Jenson Button in the original ad then?

Was that THE Leo Sayer? Is Leo an F1 fan? You make me feel like racin’, racin’, whoo, race the night away!
