The rumours about Korea have been going on for months and these have clearly begun to feed back to the promoters, who have now issued a photograph showing some of the circuit in what seems to be completed form – with tarmac having been laid. The inaugural F1 Korean Grand Prix is due to take place on October 24, but the circuit says that its first event will be next weekend when Karun Chandhok will drive the track in a Red Bull car in the course of an event to be called
“Circuit Run 2010″. The organisers say that 90 percent of the work is now done and that the finishes touches will be added in the next 50 days to ensure the facility’s readiness for the October date.

There is a scarily low field of view on those shots! Let’s hope they get it finished in time.
A little bit of me is worried about this, but really, isn’t it a bit exciting to have a new event?
no one knows the circuit, so it’s all about learning in practice and adapting on sunday.
It could very well be the most important race of the last six rounds for the WDC.
North Korean architecture…
I wonder what car Chandhok is going to be driving ? A Red Bull RB6 or a Red Bull C4 WRC ?
Great news!
…”part of the pit building…” thats funny. Chandeok is meant to be driving a RBR car there this weekend so the track at least must be finished. Whats with the rumors. Send someone there to check it out.

hmmm, where is the photo of the track?
My problem is this looks way too much like a movie set prop. Did anyone take pictures from behind to see if there any backdrops?
Surprisingly and almost refreshingly bland design for the new buildings. I’m getting a bit bored by all these OTT designs for circuit buildings these days – seems oddly comforting this.
Will it be the full circuit, or the short circuit that Karun drives on?
The FIA states that the circuit must be complete 90 days before an F1 race, unless force majeure comes into play, and I guess monsoon weather covers that.
Even if it’s half finished, it can’t be any worse than Las Vegas or Dallas.
A technical question: how long does it take for Tarmac to cure sufficiently to run high downforce cars over it?
Is it possible we’ll have the track lifting after a day or two of running because it hasn’t been down long enough or bedded in? A problem which would have been discovered had the test event taken place?
I don’t mean to be a doomsdayer and I think Korea has legitimate grounds for a place on the calendar (unlike a couple of the middle eastern rounds.) But this could be a mess.
Yes, why no images of the actual track? Wouldn’t that be the important part? And I guess Karun has time for this PR stunt because Yamamoto’s seemingly endless bank account keeps pushing him out of his F1 drive.
I am starting to doubt it will happen, not due to the korean’s progress on the track but the Rather large Typhoon headed straight for the track. Its supposed to make its landfal sometime tonight as a weak Catagory 3.
That may ruin the weekend for Chandhok and everyone else who may want to go this weekend. Hell its the only reason I am not going.
