Lewis Hamilton will be taking a role as one of the voices in Disney Pixar’s movie Cars 2, which will be released this summer. The original Cars, which was launched in 2006, featured the voice of Michael Schumacher in the European markets.
Directed by John Lasseter, the film will again feature the voices of Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt and Larry the Cable Guy in the roles of Lightning McQueen, Sally Carrera and Mater. They will be joined by British veteran Michael Caine, who will play Finn McMissile, a stylized Aston Martin DB5, and Emily Mortimer as Holley Shiftwell. The story involves McQueen taking part in the first-ever “World Grand Prix” to determine the world’s fastest car, a contest which inevitably involves secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors. The chief bad guy will be Professor Zündapp (voiced by Thomas Kretschmann).
The original Cars movie, which was released in 2006 made around $500 million at the box office and more than $1 billion in merchandising.

apparently it will also have Mark Winterbottom from the Australian V8 Supercars
After being nonplussed by Lewis a couple of times, as he grew into his game, I’m tempted to think he’s personable enough to have a career outside of racing. Not a fan, just warming to him as he finds his style. Guess i shall be watching that movie with the kiddos, so i’m sold.
I don’t think it’s long (in real terms) before legislators will really do something to stymie the combustion engine motor. Last ditch now to get a generation nostalgic before the supposed 2050 EU city ban comes around!
I hope to be doddery, rather than entirely decrepit or passed, like that character in Tinker, Tailor … driving an Alvis around a field for the sheer memory of it all

He’s developed so many different mid atlantic accents over the past ‘couple years’ I’m not sure how we’ll know it’s him.
I still contend that the original Cars is one of the best racing movies out there.
Le Mans? Awesome footage but admittedly low on plot.
Grand Prix? In my opinion it was over-dramatized (I should watch it again, as it’s been a while).
No need to comment on Days of Thunder…
At least Talladega Nights was good for a bunch of laughs (while being as realistic as Days of Thunder, it seemed).
Cars, what a sublime piece of animated art. My favourite movie of all times, i never get bored watching it again and again with my kids!
Hamilton will be the second best British driver in the film as David Hobbs will appear as a 1961 Jaguar XKE named “David Hobbscap”.
Adam R, Winterbottom’s role is only for the Aus/NZ market. The role is essentially replaced for each region with a local star. I don’t know if it’s the same as Lewis Hamilton’s.

So this is what Hamilton gets out of his new affiliation with Simon Fuller’s talent agency? Ho-hum. I don’t want to bust the guy’s chops–he’s barely a quarter century old. But I’m vastly more interested in how Hobbs does. Plus, he no doubt needs the money more than Hamilton.
