I wondered about this. On going back to the pits after his first Q3 lap he took the off-road part. I thought… surely he can’t do that for no reason, or why have a track / rules at all?!?

Could it be WDC subconscious arrogance?

I can not see what the problem is with him doing that. He was not on a flying lap he was doing his out lap and he did not do it to overtake anybody. x

    Noooo :( .. that would give Martin Whitmarsh’s golden boy P2 :(

They won’t punish him it’s now’t to do with Lewis !!!

Well he clearly did during an in lap, are you allowed to do that on purpose?

Anyone catch this? Is the “report” to the stewards likely to be from a marshall, or one of the other teams? Could be interested if VET is moved a little further back; a chance to sharpen the overtaking skills.

    No such luck!

Huge, huge start tomorrow. Lewis clear after turn 3 means he could ‘do a Vettel’ and have the luxury of ‘race control’ for the race – a fast Button over-taking Vettel could mean the frustration is out of a Red Bull for once (proving that LH was only in such positions this year due to slow-car-frustration).

this happens all the time surely? i’ve certainly seen it a few times before.

Hamilton cut a corner you say? BAN HIM…BAN HIM FOR THE RACE!

…oh it was Vettel…errm, well I’m sure he didn’t mean it, let him off!

no advantage, no penalty. Makes sense to me.

taking that line is forbidden as we know ; but telling the drivers they must turn round and exit at the correct place [ so they don't gain an advantage over cars behind ] seems a little clumsy

why not just paint a white line across the short cut allowing to proceed once they have come to a full stop there ; that should provide a sufficient penalty for having left the track and taken a short cut

Yawn this is just getting boring now, Lewis is a saint and of course has never done anything wrong ever…

“Noooo .. that would give Martin Whitmarsh’s golden boy P2 ”
Do you mean the one that performs well and is an example of how to be a team player and all round pleasent person??
