Hmm..no links on th eblog post. I knew about gp+ and so clicked thro the sidebar’s link.
I think there may be a tiny glitch in the “follow” alerts, as for some reason I get alerts to normal blog posts but not to GP+ publication announcements. Maybe these posts are somehow different and are not recognised by the “follow” protocol? Being impatient, I was looking for it anyway and just went straight to GP+…
Great issue as usual, though a few reminders of how much I miss P-HC’s photos…
Me thinks China is playing up, as I can’t get into gp+ to download. G.
No, I am on an A380 flying from Shanghai to Dubai and I am able to download GP+ inflight. I was able to file it from China by figuring out a way to get through the Great Firewall of China.
Are you having a “Protest Night with Joe” while you’re in Bahrain?
Be safe.
I see Tor has a useful purpose after all
Downloaded just fine for me. Much as I always enjoy the instant and detailed race report, I am especially delighted to see so much historic content in this issue. DT’s review of the book on Big Lou is VERY interesting. The book came up in a discussion forum that I frequent; many, including Doug Nye, were gobsmacked by its content.
or, “Rosberg Right Ahead”?
Maybe not enough of a groan for a GP+ headline – or in the light of David’s closing words to this issue, which I can only echo.
Thanks as ever. Particularly liked the Jenson Button interview, underlined by today’s winner telling the BBC, 45 minutes after the race, that he’d not yet had a chance to speak to his dad…
Great read as always, many thanks, Joe.
Are all the crews en-route to Bahrain now?
Unable to download in Virginia @ 1413 4/15/12. Check later. Hope you upgraded to sleeper!
No chance of an upgrade… sigh
The upload in China worked OK. Download quality is dictated by your local network, so it may be a bandwidth problem there.
Stone me, how the other half live!! Safe journey. G.
Happy 100. Particularly enjoyed the candid Jenson interview and the Steven South item.
Looking at the cover photo, that front wing looks like a food processor! HTF do they stall that lot?
Joe.
I never had any problems in all my trips to China with internet. I would purchase ( subscribe) to a Firewall for month, and could access everyting that I required when I was working and travelling there. Up to 4 weeks at a time.
Yes, that is what we all do, but these change from year to year as they get blocked by the free-thinking democratic government
Congratulations on reaching 100 issues!!
I just downloaded GP+ and noticed it. Great stuff!
Congratulations on your 100th issue.
Hi joe I am slightly confused you seem to be vehemently against the BGP but is it the case that you ran an ad for them in your JSBM last week?
No, I ran a picture of the poster they were using to draw attention to the Unif1ed slogan. That is not an advertisement. I would like to know how you heard that there was an advert? I know that this publication is widely pirated because it is not cheap, but if my subscribers are breaking the rules I’d like to know about it.Or I want to hear who is spreading rumours and propaganda in such a way. My views about Bahrain have been expressed very clearly. They have not changed.
Here is a screenshot of the page. I suppose that if one did not read the text and wanted to misconstrue it, one could claim that it is an advertisement, rather than an illustration. However, given what it is written in the text it is clearly not advertising. Check it out.
Definately no advert there! in fact nothing at all.
I suspect Joe removed this after letting CJ see it.
Obviously another publication of Joe’s that I would love to have but is too expensive for an old superannuated git.
It’s there, the hyperlink is at the end. If you didn’t read the text it would look like an advert, but in the middle of an article about Bahrain it clearly isn’t.
Congratulations,. !!!
In fairness to Big Lou in 1970 at the Belgian GP Ronnie Peterson was put in jail for kicking a policeman who objected to the Swede’s driving in a hurry on the wrong side to get to Spa. I got to hear of this, ran under the tunnel and up into what one might call the royal box. Big Lou was sitting next to the Foreign Secretary of Belgium. “Mr Stanley, Mr Stanley” said yours sincerely, Ronnie is in jail. Leave it to me said leaning over to the Belgian withe the following words: one of my boys is in jail, if you don’t get him out immediately I will cancel the race. Ronnie was on his way a few minutes later.. On a different tack glad to have handed over 30 euros in the Press Room in Monaco when you are about to launch issue one. Money well spent!
Interesting story, thank you Andrew. I’ve heard several other stories of Big Lou’s generosity at times of distress. Of course, in the case of your story, his critics would likely be quick to point out that he would never miss a chance to show how influential he was – or at least create that illusion. Complicated man.
Loved the Race Report.
Is there a possiblity to make the Qualifying Report available pre-race? Maybe as a text block on the subscribers area of GP+?
No.
Congratulations to you and DT on the 100th issue, and congratulations on that issue. As always, extremely enjoyable and informative reading. Thanks to you all and long may it last.
I’m not having any luck in California with the links or sidebars. I’ll keep checking.
This may be common knowledge but I’ll pass it on anyway. Try using Mozilla’s FireFox browser. You can download it for free and in my experience and solves a lot of these problems.
Joe – I’m half way through reading the issue, so apologies if its covered later.
I was hoping you could do a review of the teams/drivers at various stages throughout the season. Perhaps some insight into the key issues the teams are facing (eg excess tyre wear) and how the drivers are over/under performing.
In particular I would be interested to hear your opinion on whether Williams would be more competitive if they had better drivers (eg if they had kept Rubens).
Or what is behind Sauber’s pace this season? It seems that for a number of seasons they have adopted a different design philosophy that has enabled them to make the tyres last and therefore get results that arguably their financial position doesn’t warrant.
Or should that be a sign that the budget reforms are working when you have teams like Sauber and Williams performing on par with some of the more prestigious teams?
Adrian, do you really think Rubens would be quicker that Pastor or Bruno? Experience, yes, but pace?
Do you really think Rubens would be faster than Bruno or Pastor? More experience, sure, but more pace?
