Q2: Massa into the 1m14s

May 26, 2012 by Joe Saward

Felipe Massa set the pace in the Q2 session in Monaco, getting into the 1m14s for the first time of the weekend. He outpaced Nico Rosberg, Pastor Maldonado, Mark Webber, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Romain Grosjean, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, the last-named scraping into the top 10 at the last minute.

Out went Nico Hulkenberg, Kamui Kobayashi, Jenson Button, Bruno Senna, Paul di Resta,Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne, the last-named spoling his chances by clonking into the wall at the exit of the tunnel in the middle of the session. The Frenchman drove the car back to the pits but did not have time for repairs.

What penalty do you think he should have gotten for trying to drive through Bruno Senna’s Williams?

Hadn’t made Q3 all year and then topped Q2 – at least that’s one way to make sure he made it!
