Bull wins fight in Spain.

June 23, 2012 by Joe Saward

Sebastian Vettel took pole position in Valencia, three-tenths of a second ahead of Lewis Hamilton, with Pastor Maldonado third for Williams. Fourth and fifth places belonged to the Lotuses of Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen with Nico Rosberg sixth, ahead of Kamui Kobayashi, who may be penalised for an incident in Q1 with Nico Hulkenberg. The German Force Indian ended up eighth on the grid, ahead of Jenson Button and Paul di Resta.

If the faces at the front were familiar, it was still an interesting grid for Sunday.

Game, vett and match? That time of year after all!

Shame the Romain and DiRista made mistakes in quali as both could have made 2/3rd on grid.
Quali 2 was immense. 0.3secs covering top 13! Racing at its best. Its so great when all the teams are so close and a slight mistake is punished so severely. Not like in the “good old days” when if you dropped .3sec you maybe lost 1 or 2 places if any at all (in an FW14,B or 15/ F2004).
This is the first time im been excited about the Valencia GP (even if Jenson isnt) as the Lotues (Loti?) look to be best on race pace. Can they put some moves on or make superior tire conservation/strategy work
Hope we see Lewis go for balls out speed to win!

I think the sheer amount of cheese there inclined Joe to close the comments!

Pity, would be nice to have a place for the silliness buried somewhere. Oh, um, hmm, yeeesss ;-)

In memory of a mislaid friend, who is just too good at hiding out, I offer:

      Vettel Rocks The Shtetl

      and in balance,

      Sebastian En Pleine

      but I’m pushing the homophones

. . the Japanese one, linked, gets my vote for inventiveness.

Possibly, or more likely the comments are automatically closed when Joe’s articles drop off the homepage. Otherwise he’d be inundated with comment spam.

Hugely fantabulous headlines today Joe, have you been smoking something local ?

  5. on June 23, 2012 at 3:34 pm LeighJW

Joe, I’ve read a couple of twitter comments suggesting that Red Bull are sounding a bit like they are using off throttle exhaust blowing. (Ferrari too). Any whispers?

    • on June 23, 2012 at 4:49 pm Joe Saward

No, the value of Twitter depends on who is twittering.

      • on June 24, 2012 at 1:10 am Ender

Or, the value of Twitter depends on the Twit?

The gap from VET to HAM is massive [.324] considering that p2 HAM to p5 RAI is within 0.1 second. VET was actually half a second up at one point.

Lets see if there’s more twittering

6 red top headlines in a row!! Ouch.

      Make ‘em ‘ave it Joe!

      Take this you wimps…

      “Man Bites Dog!”

Massa finally gets a grip on his errant Ferrari.

Correct me if I’m wrong Joe, but wasn’t the incident between KOB/HUL a case where HUL was being investigated for holding up KOB? That’s how it was presented on the world feed I believe.

Bull fight in Spain, Roman soldiers to the front, buttons are mushrooming, a pastor tends to his flock, yes indeed!

    Saward’s savvy headlines….

  9. on June 24, 2012 at 4:25 am George

Where do you get these cheesy headlines? Is there a reference book you have or do they just come naturally to you?

  10. on June 24, 2012 at 5:37 pm Voyager

… only to fall dead a while later.
