The Q2 session at Silverstone has been stopped because of rain after driver after driver spun, although no-one hit the wall. The fastest driver in the session was Sergio Perez ahead of Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Jean-Eric Vergne. If the session is restarted things could change, but at the moment Pastor Maldonado, Paul di Resta, Romain Grosjean , Michael Schumacher, Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso and Bruno Senna are all out.

Just did see you on the telly tho, synchronising your watches down at what looked to be the Sauber pit stand…
Yup Joe, chatting to Monisha Kaltenborn just as the “Restart will be at 15:07″ was called, you looked up at the big screen behind you and checked your watch.
So during the red flag halt Joe Saward became a well-remarked television “personality”, at least over here in the New World. But the Speed TV commenting crew failed to include mention of your achievements as a much appreciated travel correspondent. (And my family is still chuckling about your report of that first dinner alone in Korea! I still think you were having some version of the famous Snake Soup served to honored foreign guests!)
Meanwhile, one of my predictions for the weekend turned out wrong.
Yesterday I was confidently predicting to myself that Mr. E would use the weather as an excuse to bash the British Grand Prix as usual, perhaps to further take the media’s minds off of his little German difficulty. But no! When he was interviewed by Lee Mackenzie during the Q2 hiatus, he was given a wide-open goal by her to do so, only for him to reply something like “Not their fault, they’ve done all they can”. I nearly fell off my perch!
I was also struck, as he climbed back up the stairs into his motorhome, by how frail he now looks for the first time I can remember. Possibly for the benefit of various authorities, but no, I don’t think so…
Thought that was you I saw on the telly talking to Peter Sauber & Monisha Kaltenborn. BBC didn’t say who you were though.
Off topic – what has happened to The Mole? No update since the beginning of May!
Joe said a while back (in a comment somewhere) that unfortunately The Mole is now too busy to contribute any further columns until after the season is over.
Thanks for the info – I must have missed that
