No rain – it’s Spain!

July 7, 2012 by Joe Saward

Fernando Alonso snatched pole position at the British Grand Prix with a lap that was just a fraction faster than Mark Webber’s Red Bull Renault in the Q3 session at Silverstone. Michael Schumacher ended up third for Mercedes, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa.

Things went wrong for Lotus (again) with Kimi Raikkonen sixth but Romain Grosjean failing to get a run after spinning off at the end of Q2.

Pastor Maldonado was seventh ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hulkenberg.

Grosjean will start 10th.

And then it started to rain again…

Sensible, and fortuitous administration, avoiding rain disasters.

Hope you’ve got a good groundsheet for your tent Joe.

    Well Done Ferrari!

    Race ON!

it would be great to see two ‘rain masters’ (Alonso & Schumi) going at it tomorrow (assuming that it rains)

Joe, did the stewards take a look into the fast laps that were made towards the end when there were waved yellow flags out?

FOM grabbed a shot of you chatting to Monisha and Peter (Sauber) just before the restart.

Good luck to Fernando for tomorrow’s race. As a driver, he excites me. One of those very small group of racers who can ‘make the difference’ in a decent (not a great) car. Just give him a tiny opportunity, a slight glimpse and he’ll pounce. Just think of what he’d have done in a Red Bull for the last couple of seasons! Definitely one of Ferrari’s greatest ever assets; worth his weight in gold.

Looking forward to the race tomorrow being stopped until the conditions are just right for Alonso.

Saw you on the tele in the Paddock with ( I think ) the lady who runs Sauber.

I am told the tele makes people look bigger than they are in real life !!!!!!!!!!!!
