Gutiérrez in for Perez

October 26, 2012 by Joe Saward

Due to the fact Sauber F1 Team race driver Sergio Pérez is unwell, the Sauber F1 Team has decided to let its reserve driver Esteban Gutiérrez jump into the car for the first free practice session ahead of the Indian Grand Prix on Friday. This should help Sergio’s speedy recovery so he is able to drive for the remainder of the weekend.

Delhi belly or is it a sneaky test to try him out for next year. Or is that too Machiavellian

Never was a tongue more firmly planted in the cheek. Great post!

‘This should help Sergio’s speedy recovery so he is able to drive for the remainder of the weekend.’ Better then Penicillin – a young gun sitting in ‘your’ seat!

My psychic senses are telling me we are in for a rumour storm to hit sometime in the next few hours.

Naturally this FP1 session will completely proev without doubt which driver is faster, and hence who will get the seat for next year.

    And yes, I’m being sarcastic

Is Sergio “really” sick or is Sauber having a good look at Esteban.

Haha love it. Even in tone-less text, it’s still hilarious!

I expect Kobayashi gave them the idea…it worked for him

For sure Esteban is a major contestant for the seat next year. Hulkenberg seems to be safe, but is Kamui (despite his fantastic showing in Japan)?

This is actually a great idea for any team planning to promote their third driver to a race seat next year – have the dispensed-with driver move over for FP1. It really doesn’t hurt anyone. Will we also see more of Bottas and Chilton in the last three races?
