There has been a change in the technical structure at Caterham F1 as the team tries to improve its level of performance. The Operations Director Jody Egginton is being promoted to the role of Deputy Technical Director with immediate effect and Performance Director John Iley is to broaden his involvement with advanced projects that can be applied to both the F1 team and the other Caterham companies. Egginton joined the team as chief engineer back in 2009 at the very beginning of the story and became Operations Director at the end of last year.
Egginton has been around Formula 1 since the mid-1990s when he worked as a junior design engineer at Tyrrell. He then spent a period with X-Trac before a five-year stretch with Open Motorsport in Germany and then a year with Aston Martin at Prodrive before joining Force India in 2005. He stayed there for five years before moving on to Caterham.
