Williams has unveiled its new Mercedes-engined FW38.
Sir Frank Williams, Founder and Team Principal, said: “Williams has started to cement our position back amongst the front running teams after finishing third in the championship in the past two seasons. This has been a great achievement given the resources of those around us. Staying where we are will be a challenge in itself, but we are determined to keep improving because only winning will ever be good enough. We have a very stable team going into 2016, with Felipe and Valtteri teaming up for a third successive season. They work well together and both have the ideal blend of speed and consistency. Our technical team has also remained very consistent which will be to our advantage and we have some of the best engineering minds on the grid at our disposal. We have a busy couple of weeks of testing coming up to learn more about our package and to refine the car ahead of the first race. We will have to wait until Melbourne to find out exactly where we stand in the pecking order but I’m confident that our hard work over the winter will stand us in good stead.”
The team will have around 115 staff at the forthcoming test in Barcelona.
Best looking livery on the grid I reckon. Clean and beautiful.
115 staff? Is that all?
At a test?
Joe…. #Sarcasm jOe…coUGH..#@### sARcasm COuGh###……..
I’m honestly not surprised with these images, as I suspect Williams will emerge (perhaps not on the first day) with an entirely new front wing assembly (including a Mercedes-esque nose). That said, there are obvious changes visible with the suspension geometry. Regardless of the changes in store for the FW38 ahead of the Barcelona test, I certainly hope that Williams have been able to get on top of their low-speed corner demons and produce a car that can handle those conditions better.
Ah, those stripes.
No radical changes I suspect that this is due to the regulations being stable (which is good) and that the rest of the grid won’t have any radical changes either.
I can’t see anything different about this car at all – do any of you have a keener eye than myself, who can point out the differences?
*sigh*
Another boring cookie-cutter F1 car.
I imagine that Ken T and Harvey P are already designing some cool stuff for next seasons Elysian GP.
I think you might find that like previous years and previous launches so far they are using a “mule” to show off the colours. It isn’t about the definitive aero package yet
Hi Joe,
Some time ago you you wrote this:
I heard at Spa that Williams is in the process of concluding an important alliance that will stabilise its financial situation for the long term. It seems to be rather more than a traditional sponsorship, but there is not much detail available.
Do you know something more about it?
thanks
Nope. Probably didn’t happen

Jaguar FE case for the company?

They have removed Alex Lynn from this page…. Any insight, Joe?
No
Is 115 a typical amount of staff for a test session?
