Time off, for good behaviour…

It being Christmas week, I’m shutting down the blog for the holidays, although I have some more Fascinating F1 Facts that I will publish each day. The F1 world is quiet.  Jost Capito seems to be out at McLaren, which is no surprise at all, while Antonio Giovanazzi has joined Ferrari as a reserve driver. There is a bit of other chatter out there about Felipe Massa having agreed to cancel his retirement and stay at Williams, allowing the team to sell Valtteri Bottas to Mercedes from (one expects) a king’s ransom. It all sounds feasible enough.

So, Merry Christmas everyone, thanks for supporting the blog and GP+ (if you do). If you don’t, you should. It’s a terrific magazine and great value for money. Sign up now at www.grandprixplus.com

And I’ll be back in the New Year…

  2. Merry Christmas Joe to you and your sweetiepie, and to the lurkers here on Joe’s blog all I can say is, if you haven’t signed up for Grand Prix+ you are really missing the best 40 quid’s worth in motor racing.

  3. Have a good Holiday Joe,

It seems like this has unexpectedly been one of the more eventful off seasons, in quite some time, especially with the drama affecting the top team.

Granted the 2008-2009 off season was quite significant, but were there many who realized what the departure of Honda formation of Brawn would be at that moment or could’ve predicted that outcome in 2009?

Here’s to a sane, interesting, and improving F1 in the new year.

Also thanks for the interesting tidbit posts these past weeks.

  4. Thanks for another great year of first class F1 reporting, and occasional other musings.

I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

    Craig.

  5. Have a peaceful Christmas Joe and a Happy New Year. Look forward to reading GP+ again next year – with a bit of luck I’ll get a sub in my stocking – if not, then I’ll treat myself.

  6. Have a great break and I hope you can make time do some you stuff.

    Before then…….

Do you think the Symonds out of team Willy news adds credence to the Lowe to Grove move….

Seasons Greetings to all at Saward Towers.

  7. Merry Christmas to you and your family Joe.
I know that running this blog may seem for you at times a thankless effort, but please know to many of us out there you are a voice of sanity amongst the white noise and click bait rubbish.
Keep up the great work into 2017!

  8. Merry Christmas Joe, thank you for all your hard work during the the year, your blog and GP+ are excellent, looking forward to reading more in 2017

  9. Have a good time.

Did you see Lewis Hamilton has made the front page of Time? There can’t have been many F1 drivers to receive that accolade. Could it be a Fun Fact for the Future?

Time are calling Lewis the best driver of his generation.

  10. Joe, Very Merry Christmas. One quick question Jost Capito arrived with great fanfare and acclaim at McLaren. Out because he was a Dennis pick is the no surprise I take it? So where does he go next? Seems with VW background that RBR would snap him up to make the case for an engine supply? Given all the acclaim when he went to McLaren in the press we can expect him to quickly move to another high profile slot?

  11. Joe,
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well as to the commenters here. Thanks for the blog, which is always a great read, and, for the most part, attracts some very knowledgeable commenters. Here’s to an interesting and exciting 2017 season especially with the new-look cars.

  28. Joe,

I saw an article yesterday which suggested that Ron Dennis may be purchasing Manor (backed by the Chinese consortium that made the failed bid for McLaren). I’m a huge admirer of Mr Dennis and I would be thrilled for this to be true. However, there seems to be many reasons against this story making sense and few reasons that it would.

    Can you offer any insight?
