Ron Dennis is to be a member of the new Defence Innovation Advisory Panel, established by British Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon. The panel will help to push forward the MOD’s Innovation Initiative, which aims to encourage imagination, ingenuity and entrepreneurship, in pursuit of military advantage in the future. The panelwill be backed by a £800 million innovation fund to work with researchers and small firms to find new solutions to security problems. Other members of the panle are Britain’s first astronaut Major Tim Peake, Innovate UK’s chief executive Ruth Mckernan; Kristina Murrin, a former policy advisor to various British governments and Robert Hannigan, the retiring director of GCHQ, the government’s signal intelligence unit.
“There can be nothing more important than our national security,” Dennis said. “I’m enthusiastic to be among the first of those named to this world class panel, who have joined MOD to spearhead their efforts to innovate across the organisation, from technology to culture – challenging the status quo, staying ahead of the curve through change and innovation.”
