Valtteri Bottas was fastest in Barcelona today with a best laps of 1m19.705s, using ultra-soft tyres. The Finn completed 75 laps, while Lewis Hamilton set the seventh best time of the day with a 1m22.090s after 95 laps, the time bieng set on soft tyres. This means that Mercedes has lifted its total of laps over three days to 470, which is mightily impressive. No-one is even close to that figure, although Ferrari has now done close to 350 laps, thanks to Sebastian Vettel’s 139 laps today, with a best – set on soft tyres – of 1m19.952s.
Daniel Ricciardo recorded a 1m21.153s on soft tyres, after 70 laps today. This means that Red Bull has recorded 210 laps in total over the three days, which is still less than half of the mileage achieved by Mercedes.
Renault has looked better today with Jolyon Palmer and Nico Hulkenberg setting the fourth and fifth fastest times of the day with soft tyres. Palmer’s best was 1m21.396s after 51 laps, while Hulkenberg did a 1m21.791s after 42 laps. This means that Renault’s total of laps is now over 200.
Sauber was sixth fastest today thank’s to Marcus Ericsson’s 1m21.824s on super-softs after 126 laps. This means that Sauber has recorded more than 265 laps
Haas continues to look solid with Romain Grosjean doing 56 laps today, with a best of 1m22.118s on super soft tyres. The team has now down around 225 laps.
Williams is not far behind, despite yesterday’s delays. Today Lance Stroll was back in the car and completed 98 laps with a best of 1m22.351 on soft tyres, which put Williams back on track with a total of 220 laps.
McLaren has a lot to do but Fernando Alonso was 10th fastest today, setting a time of 1m22.598s on ultra-soft tyres. He did 72 laps which means that McLaren’s total for the three days is now up to 141 laps.
Carlos Sainz was 11th fatstest today after only 32 lap in the Toro Rosso. Danii Kvyat was 13th, but the pair completed a total of 63 laps between them and that took the Toro Rosso total of running to around 185 laps.
Force India handed the new car over to Alfonso Celis today and he was 12th fastest on supersoft tyres. He completed 71 laps to set a best of 1m23.568s, which takes the team to around 200 laps for the three days.
