  1. Presumably 2012 livery will look much like the 2011 livery then? Not in Lotus’s interest to release pics of their star signing in a car then have him unveil a totally new look machine in a few weeks’ time.

    1. Well Lotus have (paid for?) a load of articles in this month’s Evo magazine in the UK and there’s an interview with Dani Bahar which shows him looking at artworks of F1 Cars, looks like livery ideas for the coming season, and all are black and gold so it would be a surprise if it wasn’t…

  2. Welcome back!!!! Most of us missed you, even if you look like a moron when not driving. Your talent is unquestionable.

  3. All the pics and son on reminds me it must be tine to renew my GP+ subs.
Remind us what the new price is this year Joe.

  4. Looks reminiscent of his McLarent days… more so than his Ferrari days atleast – motivated that is.

Looking forward to seeing him race, hopefully it will be a great car.

  5. The hats are wrong, they should read “Team Lotus”. The badge on the nose of the car is absurdly large, to the point of being comical. It all reminds me
of a fat bald guy who attends his high school reunion driving a Ferrari and
    thus expects to ‘get lucky’.

Colin Anthony Bruce Chapman is doubtless bouncing off the rev limiter, spinning in his grave.

      1. And with the disappearance of Team Lotus one also suspects the man with £1 of whom The Mole speaks has also vanished.

    1. Considering the official entry for the team is “Lotus F1 Team”, why would they want to put “Team Lotus” on their hats?

      1. Q: Hi Kimi, please tell us, all about, the race. From the start please…

K: Car was good, race was good.

        pause

Q:Well tell us all about that big fight you had over 10 laps with X, blah blah blah.and then the big contreversy about xyz

K:It was ok. Thank you sponsors, team.

Q:Come on, you’ve been told about this by now surely, tell us something about something?!!

K:Ok, mumble mumble, something yup, ok? Goodbye.

        Loved it every time!

  6. They can slap as many stickers on it as they like, but that’s a 2 year old Renault with dodgy tyres that Kimi’s driving.

    1. have a look at the BBC F1 website – he is not too shabby including a few power slides for rallying’s sake. Good luck to him this year. I don’t really care about his interview technique but it hasn’t changed much!

  7. Okay, so LRGP is officially “Lotus F1 Team” now. Fair enough. At least it’s all been Sorted Out. It is what it is, and we can put the arguing behind us. And Kimi in a Lotus is going to be awesome. But that’s still an old Renault, whatever colour it’s painted. 😉

Speaking of designations, any news as to what they’ll call this year’s car? I mean, will they keep to the tradition of using the Lotus type number series (as Fernandes’ team did) or are they going to be all boring and follow the herd with “F112”, “F101”, or something? This stuff matters. A bit.

    1. More to the point, what are Renault and Genie going to call it when Lotus default on the sponsorship payments ?

There’s an awful lot of big badges that are going to suddenly disappear mid-season, or at best by the beginning of next year.

  8. Good to see Kimi behind the wheel, although it was rather comical to watch the internet melt down when Autosport released their early morning “spy shot.”

  9. Joe,

Long time reader, first time commenter – thank you for your wonderful insights to the world of F1.

Just one question; at these sorts of tests, will there be an FIA representative making sure they keep to the 2 year old car spec, that they don’t ‘sneak’ any bits of new kit on to test, or are the team expected to just play by the rules?
