Sorensen for Lotus?

There are rumours in Copenhagen today that Marco Sorensen will soon be named Lotus test or reserve driver thanks to money from Saxo Bank. The bank announced a deal with the team this morning but there was no word on Sorensen being included in the deal. Saxo has been a very successful online bank in recent years.

  1. Saxo Bank is a big cycling sponsor.

My first reaction was to wonder whether the shareholders would get good value for this, but Saxo Bank is mostly owned by two individuals (source: Wikipedia) so I guess it’s up to them…..

  2. Good news with Lotus having secured PDVSA and Saxo Bank as sponsors.

I’am guessing that Raikkonen, Valsecchi and the rest of the Lotus staff members have now been paid?

  3. Saxo Bank have been a big cycling sponsor of Team Tinkoff-Saxo for years, but after Oleg Tinkoff bought the whole cycling team, it is easy to speculate that Saxo Bank don’t want to be involved in the cycling team anymore.
The cycling team will go from being a Danish team to be Russian.
The money could then be used in the Lotus sponsorship and it easy to think that Marco Sørensen is a part of the deal.

  4. Maybe Saxo Bank can bring some B2B to Genii and explain how international bank transfers are carried out (… Quantum/Infiniti)

  5. Saxo has stated to Danish media that the sponsorship is not huge and will just allow for some hospitality events and the like – they are merely dipping their toes in the f1 pond. They also state that it will not interfere with their cycling engagements. Would love Marco at Lotus but think the team will have difficulties matching their recent results (which have been mightily impressive). Regardless, us danish f1 fans have allready been spoilt beyond belief by the arrival of Kevin Magnussen at McLaren. And even if Marco is part of the deal any enthusiasm should be contained, just ask Valsecchi – I hope im wrong, but I just dont see any room for Lotus in the top 8 in 14 and beyond..
