Last chance for a bargain…

It is about six years since GP+ last increased its price and while we understand that this does not make a great deal of commercial sense, we still believe that we should keep the price as low as possible to encourage more people to join the GP+ team and get new insight into the sport and develop even greater passion for the sport.

The motto of the GP+ e-magazine is “It’s all about the passion” and that really tells you all you need to know about the publication. It is a magazine for people who are passionate about F1, and about motor racing in general.  Those who subscribe often wonder why it took them so long to do it and we hope that many others will decide to give it a go this year.

The current calendar and the global expansion of F1 means that we need to raise the price from the current £29.99 to £32.99. That might seem like a big hike, but even without taking into the increasing costs incurred covering F1, inflation alone should mean that a 2009 magazine costing £29.99 would today be priced at £35.69.

The price rise will come into effect at 0900 GMT on Monday, January 11, so if you want to take advantage of the last few days at the current price, please feel free to do so.

GP+ is still an incredible bargain at £32.99 given that you get 24 magazines a year included in the package. In 2016 there will be 21 race editions which come out just hours after each F1 Grand Prix. These are between 75 and 100 pages each. In addition, you get season preview and season review editions, both of which are larger than the norm. And on top of that you get access to the 126-page 2015 season review, the biggest ever GP+, which is filled with insights about last season.

We want to share our passion with F1 fans and expanding the GP+ readership – and keeping the price as low as possible – is best achieved using word of mouth advertising, for which we depend on you. If you like what we do why not send this message to your friends and followers an help us spread the word.

  1. The previous post of this disappeared and I got a 404 message when I tried to see the answer to the question I posted there. It was “as my auto-renewal date for Paypal is 15 Feb, am I correct that no action is required on my part to get the year’s subscription at the previous £29.99 price or do I need to cancel the auto-renewal and pay the £29.99 prior to 11 Jan?”

    1. I replied to the email you gave, so I guess that must not have been a good one. You do not have a problem. The subscription will renew at 29.99 on Feb 15

  2. Joe I have tried for the past 2 years to subscribe to your magazine without having to sign up to pay-pal–which I do not want to do. There does appear to be an option to do this but the screen refuses to allow me to proceed to the end. I have tried with UK card, French card and American card. My girlfriend has just managed to do it on Chrome. Explore, and Safari do not work.
Just to let you know !

    1. Tim, I’m with you – I don’t want to hook up with pay-pal either.
As you say, option seems to be there, just can’t get it to work. I am on Chrome….?

        1. LOL,Seriously, send cash where? Do you want our bank sort codes and account numbers too? Try fixing your website, no?

That, or don’t get our money

(BTW I have a paypal account but after reading your response to a reasonable question , so not using it . I can’t use firefox to do it either. )

          Your ball.

          1. The “send cash” remark was a joke; a gentle piece of humour that seems to have gone over the fence and into the long grass in this case.

However, you raise a serious point. The website is not the prettiest, but it works fine for thousands of customers. We are working on a new one. We have looked at a number of payment systems but PayPal is the most trusted brand in the business, whether occasional individuals like it or not. It works well with direct payments and with credit cards. It’s not perfect, but then who has a perfect system? Over Christmas I tried several times to get Target to take my money online and they failed every time because even the biggest retailers have troubles. They had crap customer service and so I’m done with them. If we had crap customer service, you would not be reading these words right now, would you? We at least care and are trying to help, even if our senses of humour do not seem to match. However, we are constantly looking for ways to improve – when we have time – so if you have a better idea then we are willing to listen. Nonetheless, you use PayPal, so when you boil it all down, you seem to agree with us. So is the problem really the payment service?

            1. No , the problem is not the payment service. The problem is you make it your users problem instead of helping them, but in the end not really that .. that is simply shit customer service.

It is the fact you deleted over 100 posts that were negative about your article …. I still have a tab open that shows 115 replies yet now there are only 15 and all the negative ones but mine have gone.

Want me to post it online? you could link to it lol.

              (betting i get deleted now)

            2. You really don’t have to print my comments .. i’d be happy to have a diiscussion if you want to listen to a professor of language and philosophy .. I really dont care… I would argue you should reinstate all those negative comments you deleted tho … most forum systems can do that I am assured ….. still whatever, it is your website and if you want to silence me as you did those 100 others , it is your dictatorship.

              Have fun *kiss*

      1. Am not trying to tell you what to do… I simply want to mention that you can get a junk email address (hotmail or whatever), use it for paypal and nothing else ever again.

Regardless, there is no actual risk involved… paypal cannot afford to permit any… their entire business depends on it…

        Just an FYI… carry on…

    2. Tim, are all your bells and whistles turned on on your browser? (I speak as someone who turns all cookies and scripts and I-forget-what-else off until necessity suggests to try otherwise)

p.s. worked fine for me the other day on Firefox, over Windows 7, with UK card.

  3. Joe, I subscribed to GP+ (first-time subscriber) on Jan. 1 using Pay-Pal. I have not yet received verification or codes. Something beyond holiday delays?

  4. Great, honest reporting, proper pricing… Good on you Joe et al.

As a side note, PayPal is a proven secure payment method, though the merchant is taxed more.

Merry New Year to all and recommending ALL of JS’s and DT’s publications! (I was able to find a second hand track guide of Joe’s through the library/shop which is internet- any chance of a Volume 2 / Redux?)

  5. No complaints here about the rate increase… Joe’s gotta eat too… (and save for his dotage as well…)

  6. After a years absence signed up once again…..looking forward to the season preview and race weekend coverages. Not to mention the historical articles as well as “State of the sport” commentaries.

    1. No, this is not true. I moved the article up the page, to keep it in the spotlight. It was also changed. When you do that you cannot take the comments as well. Besides, the comments were not negative. You are just annoyed that I said you did not have a sense of humour and now you are comment-bombing everywhere. If it goes on I will stop it, but until you are rude – which will not be long because you’re obviously worked up, I will go on publishing the comments.

  7. There was 115 comments here minutes ago ,,, all the ones that disagreed with you got deleted then? LOL, seriously? how pathetic are you ? Your ego can’t strand the idea of anyone disagreeing with you or you just realised you were wrong and your ego can’t deal with that? I notice some of my previous comments got deleted too. Don’t like discussion?

    1. If you look at the explanation for that you will understand. I don’t delete comments unless they are rude or disrespectful or if I move a list and cannot take them with it.

  8. Given that I know this won;t be published and so I am just talking to the ego of Joe … do you seriously think you command any respect when you delete negative comments? I am sure you have a faithful of 50+ year olds all hankering after yesterday, as you are, but if you are trying to talk about the future then embrace it and all its social media implications .. i.e. stand by what you say … the only way you are getting away with deleting everyone’s negative comments is cos very few people come to your site and you think we are stupid and won’t notice, no?

BTW, How far along are you from deleting the whole article given you had to delete over 100 user comments telling you it was all BS? (and you only got left with 14 lol)

  9. I will advise for a nominal fee without going thru the exorbitant fees my company charges … on the condition it is transparent and you stop deleting posts you don’t like

  10. Hi Joe,
Just subscribed for the first time having read the blog for free for over a year. Thought it was time I gave you something back. Keep up the great work – honest, straight reporting is something that’s missing from F1 these days.
To those of you who don’t like the way Joe does business you have the option to go and play elsewhere. As he says this is a blog not a forum so he sets the rules. Mumsnet caters for those who like to have the odd hissy fit I believe.

  11. Afternoon Joe – Renewed my subscription using Paypal with no problem at all and I look forward to the season preview in a few weeks.

As an aside – you put up with the wind up bottom feeding trolls on here much better than I would – some of these people should simply not be allowed internet access, as it seems that they think the cross-eyed opinions they spout are facts – shame on them all.

I do appreciate your attitude – your blog, your rules – other people who are too childish to respect this should really just go away. Healthy debate (which I KNOW you encourage) is a wonderful thing, but some of the incessant whining from certain “contributors” lately is just pathetic.
