Fabulous shite!

I love it. Mercedes denies breaking 1000 hp! No-one thought they had, apart from the mongrels who wrote the first headline and got a second for free. This is almost as bad as Forbesula Money Pitass.com…

Man in garage in South Australia breaks Guinness Book of Records record for bullshit stories in 24 hours.

Bottas was fastest today in Barcelona, but it means nothing…

  1. I don’t know why, but I can’t help laughing whenever Joe gets wound up by these wannabe journos.

    Sorry Joe!

  2. Il parle plutôt des nouvelles règles de qualifications qui doivent entrer en vigueur en Australie…!

Who decided on those changes ?

  3. Red Bull’s Dr Helmut Marko adds: “Over the whole distance it would not be 1000hp, but perhaps on a fast qualifying lap.”

  4. I used to work at a small IT firm, I worked mostly on the PR parts of stuff. We used to joke around lunch break that we should put out press releases denying the rumours of Microsoft/Apple/Google buying us.

  5. I do wonder how much the shite reporting is hurting F1. I know people that follow F1 religiously that will buy these stories and even after pointing out the error of their ways on believing this shite they inevitably will in time reference a shite story in an argument as well.

    1. Yup, and somehow some of these “stories”/rumors make it on the SkySports F1 site, and even worse, they are sometimes discussed on air during F1 weekends.

  6. Its old news they did in 2010 Joe
MKB has unveiled a new performance package for the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series.

Dubbed the P 1000, the package includes new air intakes, larger turbochargers, improved cooling

  7. Hi Joe

If you can tell me where in South Australia, I can go tell him to cease and desist with the bullshit stories as I live in Adelaide.?

Anyway thanks for articles always a good read.

  8. Dear Joe, some years ago you also reported about a story which actually was not confirmed at all. I asked you about sources, you told me “if this hurts, simply don’t read my blog”. Writing without mentioning any source is an easy way to build up stories in order to get readers. “Faboulos shites” are everywhere unfortunately…

    1. If you don’t trust me, then please go and read other journalists and believe what you want to believe. I don’t mind. I’m not doing this because I want clicks to impress people. I’m not doing this to please any master (my wife doesn’t care about clicks). I am doing this because I love the sport and want it to be successful, because I believe in it and have spent my career up to now doing that. We all make mistakes and we all get led astray by people saying things that do not come true (and it is not always their fault when things don’t work out because there are some nasty people involved in this game), but that is a risk of the job, which professional journalists accept. Over a period of 28 years in F1, I think I have a very decent hit race, of which I am proud. I started young and so I am not old either, despite what some people out there think. I still go to every race and have done since the autumn of 1988. I have kept my integrity, no matter what some will tell you. I am my own toughest judge and I have a couple of colleagues who tell me when I am out of line. It is all about trust and respect. The reason that there are people who get irate about me is that I call them for what they are: they are not proper F1 journalists. They are not to be trusted, nor respected. We are all industry monitors (look up what it means) and there are plenty of very competent people covering different aspects of the sport: personalities, racing, technical, politics and business. These are people who have earned their spurs the hard way. Those who pretend (wearing passes that are not media etc) are simply trying to give themselves credibility that they do not have a right to have. Yes, one can give up one’s pride and morals and become a puppet/PR for a team, or for someone else, but it is a dead end career-wise. It does not build credibility across the sport. So, read fabulous shite if you want but, if nothing else, at least try to understand that any negative comments about me come from people with a grudge, or those who have been unpleasant in their blog comments and have been given a slap. I don’t want trolls on this blog. I want serious and passionate fans only. Your choice.

  9. Unfortunately in Australia writers appear to have full licence to just write shite and report it as fact. Our major newspapers have been getting away with it for years. I am still trying to track down the offending article – I want to see who is peddling this shite. We have enough going on down here without morons fabricating F1 stories.
