Prost is new Renault ambassador

February 23, 2012 by Joe Saward

Alain Prost has been named as Renault’s new international ambassador.

He will represent the company in sports demonstrations and at events organized or attended by Renault. He will also give the company the benefit of his technical expertise, professionalism and renown.

“Renault’s history is intimately linked to that of motorsport and I have a deep attachment to the brand, with which I achieved some of the greatest successes in my sporting career,” Prost said. “I accepted this mission with pleasure and I intend to accomplish it with professionalism.”

“We are delighted that Alain Prost has accepted the role as our brand ambassador,” said Carlos Tavares, Chief Operating Officer. “As a four-time Formula 1 champion renowned the world over for his technical expertise, Alain is without a doubt one of the most demanding ‘customers’ that Renault has ever had! He is the best-qualified personality for talking about the progress made by Renault in the last few years on quality, technological innovation and performance.”

I wonder if Lotus will manage to get him wearing a black and gold t-shirt?

Doubt it because he is the RENAULT ambassador, not the LOTUS or LOTUS F1 ambassador.

Renault or RenaultSport are completely seperate form Lotus F1.

I think you may have missed the humour in the comment.

Well done alain this is a real coup’ for renault, some real history from memory lane. I like Alain with his coolness and real feverish profesionalism. Im sure he will be a fantastic ambassador for renault….

    Renault related
You might find this interesting, it turned up in my inbox today,

re machine tools for sale “Ex-Formula 1 Racing Co”, available August 2012.

The company was not named but I copied the link to the image,

    http://i4.createsend3.com/ei/r/2A/4B9/F3D/232108/1craigstrong-renault-f1-advert.jpg

The ‘renault-f1′ rather gives the game away. Seems odd a clear out like that.

You may have other info which will make sense of it.

The question is: Will we see Prost driving a Lotus, Red Bull or Williams for exhibition runs? That would be great stuff! A special add with Vettel and Prost together, just imagine!

    • on February 24, 2012 at 2:25 am APSASPAPSAPASPA

      Or Caterham!

Doubt Lotus as they are linked with Group Lotus, Red Bull probably wont want him for publicity, they have enough and Prost isn’t exact the target market inteicing guy that all the other rubbish they do is. Williams maybe, Caterham unlikely.

More likely to do RenaultSport stuff

Wow I was just reading this morning about how Prost and Renault fell out in 1983 and some Renault staff marched down to his home in Saint-Chamond and torched his car. Never thought Prost would associate himself with Renault again!

They are a forgiving bunch, they are very french, If they were a british team, they would turn away and never dare utter his name again, typical british. but thats the difference between the english and our neighbour the french..No matter what you say about the french ” they cannot be trusted ” they will forgive you, they may side with the germans but we are closer to the french then you realise….and they know it…..and they know we know it…. and the germans know it…..
